Congrats to retired professor and current adjunct, Bob Nutgrass for being selected to receive the SHAPE Iowa Lifetime Achievement Award. The Iowa PE Association presents various recognition awards at its annual convention. SHAPE Iowa stands for the “Society of Health And Physical Education,” a state-wide association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, and promotes physical fitness and health for the youth of Iowa, mostly through physical education programs in the schools. SHAPE Iowa comprises physical education, health, recreation, and coaching professionals throughout the state of Iowa.

The SHAPE Iowa Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given to professionals across the state of Iowa.

So proud of our Sport admin alum, Steve Carlson! He continues to do incredible things in the industry and it’s just beginning. Good luck in Saturday’s playoff game!

Congratulations to Steve Carlson! Steve (SRM M.A. '21) was named to the College Sports Communicators 30-under-30 list 😲 The honor recognizes 30 young college athletics communications professionals who are excelling in strategic, creative, and digital spaces. Steve is the Assistant AD for Communications at the University of South Dakota, serving as lead Football contact for the fourth-ranked program in the country that is currently playing in the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs.

During his time in our Sport and Rec Mgmt master's program, Steve worked as a Graduate Student Assistant Sport Administrator for the American Rivers Conference, an NCAA Division III conference, where he helped plan and execute three NCAA Division III national championships.

We're super-duper proud of you, Steve!! Good luck to USD in Saturday's playoff game!
