We're proud to announce the S. Lucia Mitchell Prillerman & Holland Scholarship, established through a planned gift from alumna Sernorma Lucia Mitchell, Class of 1973.

This endowed scholarship will support underrepresented students, with preference for those connected to the Healthy Grandfamilies program, first-generation college students, and those with financial need. Mitchell’s journey reflects the power of community, mentorship, and perseverance.

We are grateful for her generosity and commitment to creating opportunities for future Yellow Jackets.

WVSU Extension Service and WV Health Right Free Clinic / WVRX brought learning to life this summer through a hands-on Youth Cooking Program in Charleston.

Students spent four days in the teaching kitchen building skills in food safety, nutrition, and meal preparation, gaining confidence and practical knowledge they can use every day.

Programs like this help empower the next generation to make healthy choices and feel at home in the kitchen!
