It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of David Stephen “Steve” Walker, the namesake of WVSU’s Walker Convocation Center.

Steve will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, integrity and the countless lives he touched. His legacy lives on in our community and in the center that bears his name.

We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Diane, the Walker family and all who knew and loved him. 💛🖤

Join us Wednesday at 6pm as WVSU women’s soccer takes on longtime rival University of Charleston!

The Yellow Jackets are riding a five-game winning streak after a 2–0 victory over Glenville State clinched the Mountain East Conference Southern Division Championship. 🏆
Congratulations to Coach Jacob Edwards and the team on a historic season!

What a night, Yellow Jackets! 🎃 Yesterday's WVSU Fall Fest was a huge success, bringing an incredible crowd of students, staff, vendors, community members and their families to campus.

From creative costumes and pumpkin carving to co****le, pumpkin bowling and trick-or-treating, there was fall fun for everyone. We love bringing our community together, and seeing so many smiling faces made the evening even sweeter! 💛🖤

Join us Saturday, Oct. 24, as the Yellow Jackets take on Monroe University at WVSU’s Community Kickoff, sponsored by Wellpoint and presented with FamilyCare Health Centers - WV.

Come out starting at 11:30 a.m. for free health screenings, flu and COVID vaccines provided by Walgreens, health and hygiene items, family-friendly activities, raffles and more. Activities continue through halftime!

Community activities start at 11:30 a.m. Kick off is at noon!

🎃 TOMORROW IS THE DAY! Last year’s Fall Fest brought so many families and neighbors to campus, and we can’t wait to do it again!

Join us at West Virginia State University tomorrow from 5:30–7:30 p.m. for a FREE evening of trick-or-treating, pumpking carving, music, activities, costume contests, photo opportunities and fall fun.

Netflix's A Different World reboot honored original series star, WVSU’s own Lou Myers, with a touching tribute in its opening episode! The series recently wrapped its first season and at one point reached No. 1 among TV shows on Netflix in the U.S.

Today we celebrate the birthday of Rev. Dr. Leon H. Sullivan (pictured on the far right as a student), one of West Virginia State University’s most distinguished alumni. 💛🖤

A Charleston native, civil rights leader and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Sullivan dedicated his life to expanding opportunity and advancing equality. From opening doors through job training to championing human rights around the world, his legacy continues to inspire.

Join us in honoring a Yellow Jacket who made a difference far beyond our campus.
