You don't want to miss this! Learn more about the Dance Gala Pre-show Talks on Friday, November 10th and Saturday the 11th!
DANCE GALA PRE-SHOW TALK
7-7:30 p.m.
Prior to both performances, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Stanley Café at Hancher, UI Dance faculty will discuss their creative process and the works in Dance Gala 2017. Student performers will also join the discussion. This talk is open to the public of all ages.
Longtime fans and newcomers alike are invited to enjoy the pre-show atmosphere in the Café, and to discuss questions and comments with the choreographers. As the artists reveal stories from behind the scenes and insights into the creative process, they wish to spark conversation with those gathered, and hope to ignite even more curiosity and enjoyment during the concert.
UI Dance faculty choreographer Jennifer Kayle will moderate the discussion both evenings and will be joined by Armando Duarte, Kristin Marrs, and Dan Fine on Friday and by Charlotte Adams and Eloy Barragán on Saturday, in addition to Christopher Rasheem-McMillan, who is rehearsal director for the work by New York choreographer, Monica Bill Barnes. Dance Department Chair, Rebekah Kowal (Saturday), and faculty Michael Sakamoto (Friday) will give a brief overview of the event, and its history and significance for the Department and the community.
