Thank you Cultural Center’s Programming Board Asian Pacific American Cultural Center Programming Board and everyone who joined us at the WOCN Candle Decorating and Conversations at Farmers Market🍎🥖! While some of us were bound by stuffy noses at home 🥶🥶, we had so many young little community members coming out full of energy! Thank you to camera duels 📸 and friends stepping in to co-host this toasty gathering.

There was something especially meaningful about slowing down, getting creative, and enjoying people watching. Come to our next gathering soon!

Sometimes, a few words of kindness can remind someone they're not alone.

Join the Women's Resource & Action Center (WRAC) for Love Letters to Survivors: A Community Quilt Project!

We're inviting you to help us stitch together something meaningful. 💌

Stop by WRAC to write a message of love, encouragement, hope, or solidarity for survivors of sexual assault on a fabric square. Whether it's a few heartfelt words, a favorite quote, or a colorful design, your contribution will become part of a beautiful community quilt.

🧵 No sewing skills needed. Just a little love.

You may be familiar with our Farmer's Market trip last year. We thought we'd feature two staple vendors of Iowa City Farmer's Market 🌽🥕

Griselda is making some new gummy bear rings and bracelets as well as her bread and butter woven items. Fun fact: Guatemalan backstrap weaving dates back to before the presence of colonialism in Guatemala.

Bounmy is cooking her Iowa City Farmer's Market favorites. She wishes she could cook more but you can only do so much in a small space. Maybe one day, she'll expand to a restaurant. Binh's favorite is the Lao sausage which comes with sticky rice. A little 🌶 but you can't buy that at the store!

We're bringing Clara Reynan (artist, librarian, community organizer) and Jordan Sellergren (owner of Little Village magazine, musician), two individuals familiar with using print media as powerful tools for civic engagement, community organizing, and public dialogue. Connecting people to important issues and inspiring audiences to become active participants in their communities, together, they will share the stories behind their work. 📖

Whether you're interested in journalism, advocacy, community leadership, or civic participation, join us to gain valuable insights into the role media can play in transforming awareness into meaningful action. 🎬
