Dr. Anny-Dominique Curtius is a co-recipient of the 2021-2022 Graduate College Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award.

The Graduate College will hold a Graduate Education Celebration event on Wednesday May 4th at 3:30PM in the Old Capitol Senate Chambers where they will publicly announce the award.

If you are not able to donate, you can still support us by participating in the social media challenges!

Challenge 1 “Always A Hawkeye”: No matter where you are, you’re always a Hawkeye! Comment where you are on the UI Center for Advancement’s Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/UIAdvancement) and one response will be randomly selected to receive $500 toward the area of their choice.

Challenge 2 “UIowa at 175”: Over the last 175 years the University of Iowa has helped change the world. Comment what you are most proud of on the University of Iowa’s Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/universityofiowa) and one response will be randomly selected to receive $500 toward the area of their choice.

Challenge 3 “Photo Challenge”: Post your best black and gold photos to Instagram or Twitter using and tag the area you want to support (French and Italian Department!). Twenty photos will be chosen, each winning $500 to donate to their area of choice.

Challenge 4 “Instagram Story Challenge”: Respond to the Instagram Story today that asks for your best Hawkeye photo. DM (direct message) your photo to the Instagram account for a chance to appear on their story. Twelve submissions will be selected, and each will win $250 to donate to their area of choice.

Roland Koku Gamia, Ph.D. student in French and Francophone World Studies, is featured in the OPVR’s Dare to Discover banner campaign!

Roland Koku Gamia’s research examines the representation of women in Sub-Saharan African novels in French from 1950s-60s in order to demonstrate the existence of an early feminism in the works of authors such as Ferdinand Oyono, Sembène Ousmane, Seydou Badian, Guillaume Oyônô Mbia and Ahmadou Kourouma.
