🐻 Football's back, Bears.

Season opener is Saturday and we're kicking things off at Lone Wolf Brewing in Yorba Linda. Cal vs. UCLA, 7:30 kickoff. They keep the sound on and we take over a section, so come claim a seat.

Free to attend, all ages welcome. RSVP on Eventbrite so we know how much space to hold.

And this isn't a one-off. We'll be at Lone Wolf every week through November, so if Saturday doesn't work, there's always next week.

One ask: we're looking for a volunteer to host a second watch party in South Orange County. If you've got a bar in mind or want to run it, drop a comment or send us a message.

Leigh Steinberg, Cal alum, legendary sports agent, and widely credited as an inspiration for Jerry Maguire, is joining us in Irvine for a conversation on leadership, NIL, and where college athletics is headed. If you've been following the upheaval in college sports and have opinions (or questions), this is the room to be in.

The evening includes a moderated discussion, an open audience Q&A, and a book signing.

Tickets are $20. We'll have dinner and drinks graciously provided by our hosts at Brown & Streza LLP.

What a day! 🐻

More than 200 Cal alumni, families, and friends packed William R. Mason Regional Park in Irvine this past weekend for our Annual Summer Welcome Party Picnic. Good food, live music from Cal Band alumni, and a lot of catching up between grads who just walked the stage and Bears who graduated decades ago.

A note from our President, Steve Huber: "This is one of my favorite events every year. There's something about watching new grads end up deep in conversation with alumni from the 80s and 90s that never gets old."

Huge thank you to our volunteers and board who made this happen, and to everyone who came out and made it such a great afternoon. Thanks also to Happy Photos for capturing the day so well.

If you're an OC-area Cal alum looking to get involved, we'd love to see you at our next events. Watch parties for the 2026 football season kick off soon, starting with Cal vs. UCLA on September 5th at Lone Wolf Brewing Co in Yorba Linda.

🎤 An Evening with Leigh Steinberg

The Orange County Cal Alumni Club is excited to welcome legendary sports agent and distinguished Cal alumnus Leigh Steinberg for an evening of conversation on the future of college athletics.

Leigh has represented more than 300 professional athletes and inspired the film Jerry Maguire. He'll share insights on leadership, negotiation, the changing world of college sports, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), and what lies ahead for student-athletes.

Following the discussion, there will be an audience Q&A, networking reception, and an opportunity to meet Leigh during a book signing.

Hey OC Bears! Mark your calendars — our Annual Summer Welcome Party Picnic is happening Sunday, July 26th, from 12–4pm at William R. Mason Regional Park (Picnic Shelter #1)."

This is one of our biggest events of the year. We're welcoming the incoming class of Cal students and their families as they get ready to head up to Berkeley this fall. It's a great chance for new students to meet current students and alumni, ask questions, swap stories, and start building their Cal community before they even set foot on campus.

We're also looking for a few volunteers to help with setup, teardown, and greeting the newest Bears and their families. If you can spare an hour, email us at [email protected] — we'd love the help!

Parking is $5, payable at the park entrance. Bring your family, bring a friend, and help us give the incoming class a proper Cal welcome.

Hey OC Bears! We've got two great ways to connect with fellow alumni this month.

First, join us Wednesday, July 8th at 6 PM for a laid-back Happy Hour at Golden Road Brewing in Anaheim. No program, no speeches — just a chance to catch up over a cold one with other Cal alumni in the area.

Then, on Sunday, July 26th, we're hosting our Annual Summer Welcome Party Picnic from 12–4 PM at William R. Mason Regional Park. This is one of our biggest events of the year — we'll be welcoming the incoming class of Bears and their families as they get ready to head up to Berkeley this fall. It's a wonderful opportunity for new students to meet current students and alumni, ask questions, and start building their Cal community before they even set foot on campus.

UC Alumni Trivia Night is happening this Thursday, May 14th from 6–9 PM at 6 Executive Circle in Irvine, and UCLA and UCI are currently leading the RSVP count. Just saying."

Join us for a fun evening of trivia, light food, drinks, and some healthy inter-UC trash talk. You'll compete in teams to win the very important bragging rights of proving that a Berkeley education actually stuck.
