A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
by William Shakespeare
Directed by Andy Sclafani-McCann
October 22-November 1, 2026
Irvine Valley College, Department of Theatre Arts
Performing Arts Center, Rezanoor Stage

IVC is bringing one of Shakespeare’s most loved comedies to life for children, families, students, and adults alike! A Midsummer Night’s Dream combines magic, music, trickery, and bold comedy together with some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful language.

The day before the wedding of Duke Theseus and Queen Hippolyta, Hermia and Lysander escapeher controlling father by running away into the forest near Athens. The young couple are pursued by Hermia’s best friend Helena who is in love with Demetrius, Lysander’s rival. In the wood, all four young Athenians catch the attention of Oberon, King of the Fairies, and his mischievous attendant, Puck. Oberon has his own problems with his wife, Titania, Queen of the Fairies, and is trying to trick her into giving up a magical child who she takes care of along with her other fairy attendants. As Oberon and Puck cause mischief for the young lovers running through the woods, Puck meets a group of Athenian workers who are rehearsing a play they want to perform for the Duke’s wedding. Puck magically transforms the lead actor of the group into the object of Titania’s affection; and chaos ensues! The play ends with four happy couples and the most memorable play-within-a-play that Shakespeare ever wrote.

COMPANY
🍂Fall Musical in the PAC Studio Theater
• September 10-19, 2026
• Directed and Choreographed by Jenny Jacobs
• Music Directed by Joshua Foy
▪︎ Vocal Directed by Megan Cornelius
▪︎ A new take on a Sondheim classic, performed in the round with one piano!

From one of musical theatre's most renowned composers, COMPANY is widely regarded as a musical that redefined Broadway in the 1970s by abandoning linear storytelling and focusing instead on a conceptual theme. This ‘concept musical’ follows Bobby on the night of a big birthday contemplating dating, marriage, friendship, and loneliness through a series of vignettes from dinners, drinks, dates, phone calls, and even a wedding. COMPANY features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of Stephen Sondheim's most famous known songs; and explores adult relationships with honesty, humor, and complexity. The strength of the piece lies in its vivid, flawed, loving, and relatable characters and their connections to each other. Through a simplified production concept and an orchestra of one piano, IVC’s production will focus on telling the stories of human beings seeking meaningful connection with themselves and each other.

There is no late seating in the studio theater.

September 19 ticket proceeds will benefit the IVC Department of Theater. Advance online ticket sales only. Your purchase will appear as TIX EVENT TICKET SVCS CA on your credit card statement.
