UCI Chicano/Latino Studies We offer an interdisciplinary program designed to provide an opportunity to examine the historical & contemporary experiences of Chicanos & Latinos in the US.

We offer both a B.A. degree and a minor. The Department of Chicano/Latino Studies is designed to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to examine the historical and contemporary experiences of Americans of Latin American origin. This diverse population includes people who trace their heritage to Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and many other Latin American and Caribbean nations. The curriculum seeks to provide an awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of the language, history, culture, literature, sociology, anthropology, politics, social ecology, health, medicine, and creative (art, dance, drama, film, music) accomplishments in Chicano/Latino communities. The Department offers a B.A. degree in Chicano/Latino Studies, a minor, a certificate program, and a graduate emphasis.

Gracias a nuestros donantes! 🤩 Thank you to the amazing donors who are making it possible for us to provide ChcLat majors with scholarships to defray the costs of their postgraduate endeavors 🧑‍🎓 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓 such as exam and application fees. Their research projects show they are ready to hit the ground running. Small gifts often mean the most. $5 🤗

We are halfway through Giving Day and we are heartened by our donors’ enormous support! 🥹💙💛 Our majors go on to become immigration lawyers, educators, and health professionals who draw from culturally competent and sensitive tools to help many populations. Thank you to our donors (alumni, faculty, staff, and anonymous donors) for helping future generations make the world a better place and for keeping the culture alive. We are truly thankful. 😊 🙏🏽 🥲
