🐜From Anteater to SNL – did you know Jon Lovitz attended UC Irvine? He was a drama major 😎

Before Saturday Night Live and A League of Their Own, Jon Lovitz ’79 was performing at UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts. In a new Wall Street Journal interview, the Department of Drama alumnus credits UC Irvine and his mentor, Professor William Needles, for impacting his comedic and theatrical instincts that launched his career. 💼 Anteater Grant Initiative Spotlight: Division of Career Pathways

The Division of Career Pathways received an Anteater Grant Initiative award to support Anteaters Go to Work, a workplace visit program that expands career exploration opportunities for students.

This program facilitates structured workplace visits where students observe professional environments, engage with industry leaders and gain firsthand insight into organizational cultures and career pathways.

🌿 Anteater Grant Initiative Spotlight: UC Irvine Sustainability Resource Center

This project will increase access to hands-on volunteer experiences by providing transportation to quarterly service opportunities with community partners, including the Newport Bay Conservancy, Amigos de Bolsa Chica, Project Grow, Coastal Corridor Alliance, and more.

By removing transportation barriers, more students will have the opportunity to engage in environmental stewardship, build meaningful community connections, and make a lasting impact beyond campus.

📋 August Checklist for Incoming Anteaters

As the start of the academic year gets closer, now is a great time to help your student prepare for the weeks ahead. Here are a few important items to review this month:

✔️ Review the UC SHIP Waiver process (if applicable)
✔️ Complete the Student Health Portal and check immunization requirements
✔️ Log in to Zot Account to review billing information and upcoming payment deadlines

Taking care of these items early can help make the transition to UC Irvine as smooth as possible.
