We are established with a generous gift from the Tata Trust to conduct multidisciplinary research, and to facilitate research grants and fellowships to prominent student and professional researchers at Cornell University, in India, and across the globe. Our research team is based out of Ithaca, New York at Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and in Mumbai at the Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS).

Rice-wheat cropping systems play an important role in India's food security, but unsustainable practices like intensive tillage and flood irrigation harm soil health and lower productivity. TCI research shows that alternative practices, including no-till farming and the use of organic amendments, can improve soil health and boost yields.
