Spotlight: Griffin Maher '17
Griffin Maher is a junior in the Hotel School, concentrating in Human Resources and minoring in Real Estate. This past summer, he worked as the assistant property manager for Boch Enterprises on Martha’s Vineyard, managing logistics, maintenance, and hospitality. His future ambition is to start his own commercial real estate brokerage firm. On campus Griffin is a member of the Real Estate Club and the treasurer and co-founder of the new Cornell Mergers and Acquisitions Club. He is also a Sigma Phi Epsilon social chair and member of the recruitment board.

New Member Series: Leor Ginzburg '18
Leor Ginzburg is a sophomore from Long Island studying Industrial and Labor Relations and minoring in Law & Society and Russian Language. He speaks four languages: Russian, Hebrew, Spanish, and English and hopes to apply them in his travels. On campus, Leor is an e-board member of the Translator-Interpreter Program, a service-learning volunteer program, and the Cornell Roosevelt Institute, a student-run policy think tank. His work experience this summer on Capitol Hill sparked his main interest: the intersection of law, government, and business strategy.

New Member Series: Brian Becker ’19
Brian Becker is a freshman from Rye Brook, New York pursuing a degree in Hotel Administration. In high school Brian was president of his student government; however, his greatest achievement was patenting a device that adds hybrid functionality to internal combustion vehicles. At Cornell, he is a volunteer firefighter and a member of Cornell University Sustainable Design. Within hospitality, Brian’s interests lie in the restaurant industry – this past summer he worked at Shake Shack as a member of the cooking staff and the management team. With his experiences and strong entrepreneurial spirit, he is currently working towards opening a diner in Collegetown. For him, this is the first step in opening a chain of restaurants that redefine the eating experience.

Daniel Beagan is a freshman from Shoreham, New York, pursuing a Major in Biomedical Engineering and a Business Minor. In high school, Daniel played basketball and baseball, participated in two honors societies, and was part of his school’s research program. His main research focus was an essay for the Intel Science Talent Search on the cultural differences between American and International students. At Cornell, Daniel currently participates in numerous intramural sports and aims to work towards the development of artificial cells and organ transplant methods.

New Member Series: Jeremy Iver '19
Jeremy Iver is a freshman from Scarsdale, New York, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. This past summer he interned at an Exxon automobile garage, learning the mechanics of a car’s engine through daily repairs. In high school, Jeremy was the president of his Model United Nations Team, a member of the honors society, and a guitar instructor. Jeremy’s strong passion for listening to and playing music inspired his current pursuit - forming a classic rock band at Cornell University.

Spotlight: Liam Hughes
Liam is currently a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, and is on a Pre-Medical track, double majoring in Biology and History. He hopes to one day lead the field of cardiothoracic surgery. On campus he is a member of the Cornell College Republicans, as well as a member of the Cornell Political Union. Both organizations aim to spread information to students on campus about current American political agendas and how crucial it is to be educated in these topics. This past summer Liam co-authored a paper on the use of Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) as a salvage surgery in burn victims with acute respiratory failure; which was presented at the European Burn Association Meeting in Hannover, Germany. He is the current house manager for Sigma Phi Epsilon, is on the Fall Recruitment Board, and is the house’s Intramural Sports Chair.
