Ithaca College established the Gerontology Institute in 1992 to serve as a campus and community resource. The Institute offers a major and a minor in aging studies and offers training for professionals in health and aging services.

We are a 60-bed facility and seek to establish a feeling of trust and security to our residents and their families through their stay, for rehabilitation or long-term care. Activities Assistant Director , Full-Time
Responsibilities
• Clerical work on the computer and with activities paperwork
• Assist the Activities Director with resident assessments, care plans, and being a part of the interdisciplinary team's process in caring for nursing home residents with dementia and various cognitive abilities
• Assist with the planning and implementation of activities for our residents
• Help design and encourage participation in activities to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation and fulfillment, and improve daily living skills
• Leading individual activity programs for residents
• Conducting resident family visits
• Facility pet and plant care
• Incorporate creative and fun activities of your personal strengths into the programs
• Helping the overall functioning of our home
Requirements
• Experience in the field or in a related area
• Clerical skills with at least a basic understanding of Microsoft Office
• Experience working with the elderly population
• Upbeat, outgoing, creative. and excited to work with people
• Ability to multitask
• Filling in for the Activities Director when they are out
• May be asked to fill in for absent coworkers if needed
• May need to work holidays
• Ability to sing, play a musical instrument or another special talent is a big plus
