Applications are now open for the 2021-2022 edition of Brown Computer Science's exploreCSR program "Socially-Responsible AI for ComputationalCreativity!"

https://explorecsr.cs.brown.edu/ai/

This is a semester-long research experience program: students join Brown CS research labs as (virtual) visiting research assistants to work on novel research projects.

This year, we welcome applications from any student attending college or university in one of the following Northeastern US states: Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. We plan to bring participating students to campus for an end-of-semester celebration 🙂

We particularly encourage students from historically underrepresented groups within computer science to apply, which includes (but is not limited to) women, students of color, first-generation college students, and LGBTQ+ students. We're also especially interested in applicants from colleges and universities that do not already offer extensive research
opportunities

Artificial intelligence is often in the news for the wrong reasons: privacy-penetrating surveillance systems, "deepfakes," racial bias in predictive policing, and more. All hope is not lost, though: when used in a socially responsible manner, AI can be used for good. For example, it can be used to a...

Apply to be a Churchill Scholar at Cambridge University-
Interested in a one-year master’s degree at Cambridge University?
The Churchill Scholarship provides one year of graduate study at Cambridge University for students in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering. Churchill Scholars can study biochemistry, material sciences, earth sciences, applied or pure mathematics, machine learning, biostatistics, or structural engineering, among other fields (https://www.churchillscholarship.org/programs.html). Most Churchill Scholars return to the US to pursue doctoral or medical degrees, but this is not required.
Details are available at https://churchillscholarship.org. Cornell may nominate two applicants to the national competition. They are selected by a small committee of faculty from the colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Engineering.
The campus deadline is October 5. If you are interested in applying, please send the fellowships coordinator, Beth Fiori, an unofficial transcript and a resume or list of research experiences, along with a few lines about your grad school plans. She may be reached at [email protected].
