Women in Computing at Cornell - WICC

Women in Computing at Cornell (WICC) is the Cornell Chapter of the Association for Computing Machine.

This organization is a registered student organization of Cornell University. Our plans for this year are focused on the three areas: building a community, networking and expanding knowledge as well as opportunities, and outreach to young girls. We are working with the CS department to give out scholarships to allow young women at Cornell to attend the Grace Hopper Conference (the largest celebrat

ion of Women in Computing). We are working with companies to host panels and inspiring alumni talks targeted toward women in the computing industry. We plan to collaborate with organizations like SWE and Women in Engineering Weekend Planning to host Computer Science related events with them during their outreach activities. In addition, through reaching out to Ithaca high school and making videos, we want to dispel some of the myths surrounding women in computer science. We also plan to hold social meet and greet events to help networking between women in Computer Science and CS faculty.

Today we’re celebrating our fabulous Outreach Team! Running our Girls Who Code classes for middle schoolers and high schoolers, this semester they transitioned the program to be in-person. Swipe through to get to know each of them!

Next up we’ve got our wonderful Brand Team! They’ve been taking care of everything behind-the-scenes this semester, from design to photography to social media to our website. They’ve also been managing WICC’s two committees: the Photo + Film Committee and the new Technical Committee! Swipe through to get to know them!

Today we’re celebrating our absolutely fantastic Corporate Team! From planning events with various companies to gaining and maintaining sponsors, our Corporate Team has been working hard all semester to secure the bag for WICC 🤑 Swipe through to get to know them!

Another semester has now come and gone…congratulations to everyone for finishing their finals, and we hope you’re all staying safe!

We’re taking the next few days to s/o all our absolutely fantastic board members, all of whom have worked together diligently this semester to make our transition back to in-person a success 🤩 We’re starting off with our fantastic Co-Presidents as well as our Operations Team – swipe through to get to know them!

Finals are approaching and WICC is excited to be hosting Study Hours!! Students from CS 1110, CS 2110, CS 2800, and INFO 2040 can come together to prepare for their exams!

Students in the listed classes can go to the assigned rooms to study, share tips, get advice, and ace their exams!
