Cornell University’s Precollege Studies is one of the nation’s longest running and most highly regarded precollege academic programs. Vanessa Zhao, a high school student from Shanghai, China, took Sustainable Animal Husbandry, a Precollege course at Cornell University offered online during January Study. In three weeks, she earned college credit, a Cornell transcript, and had a great time getting to know her instructors and students from around the world in her class. If you have time off from your high school in January, consider taking an academic challenge with an online Precollege course. Classes run January 2-17, 2026 and are taught by Cornell faculty alongside undergraduates. Applications open in October.

Today we welcomed our Fall Precollege students to campus for orientation with Precollege Director Sam Elebiary, followed by tours of their classrooms.

Only two days left for our 2026 Precollege students. Online, residential, and commuter scholars are wrapping up projects, trading notes, and gearing up for finals. The finish line is in sight — let’s go!

On Friday, we invited our commuter students and their families to join us for bocce ball and social time after an active week in the classroom. Commuters stay in the Ithaca area with parents/guardians and come from places as close as Tompkins County and from around the world such as China and the UAE. The latest photo dump! We are heading toward our last week of residential Precollege, but we're still packing in some fun activities around the Finger Lakes, such as canoeing, mini-golf, movie nights out, and cosy crafting. Making the most of free time before those final tests 🐻❤️

Our commuter students took to Bebe Lake to canoe with Cornell’s Outdoor Education instructors this weekend. Commuters stay with a parent or guardian off campus and take classes on campus. We offer opportunities for these students to connect through planned activities 🛶
