Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, specifically marking June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free. It is celebrated as a federal holiday dedicated to freedom and African American history. We celebrate Juneteenth to honor the resilience of formerly enslaved people and to acknowledge a pivotal turning point in American history. The holiday marks the day Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, two years after it was originally signed. Often called "America's second Independence Day" or "Freedom Day," it recognizes that the 1776 Fourth of July did not grant freedom to all Americans. It serves as a day for rest and remembrance, encouraging citizens to learn about the "good, the bad, and the ugly" of American history.

Come and Join us Saturday, June 20th as we host our "The Importance of a Father Brunch" at the LT Brazil Center in Itta Bena, Mississippi at 11 a.m. This program will promote the importance of Fatherhood and power of Mentorship in an open-to-the-public brunch.

This brief program will feature:
- A Keynote speaker
- full breakfast meal
- Father/Mentor Pledge
- Special recognition of exemplary fathers and mentors from the local community.

Brother Carlos D. Palmer, Esq. participated as a mentor and Presenter during the 9th Chancery Court Summer Youth Law Camp in Indianola, MS. Judge Palmer spoke to attendees about his experiences from the attorney’s prospective: providing invaluable insight into his journey into the profession, the skill set necessary to be an attorney, importance of discipline and focus in studying and how attorneys give back to the community in the field of law as both an attorney and a Judge.

The Beta Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Fraternity, Inc. is excited to announce our 2026 Individual Fill-the-Calendar Fundraiser. This fundraiser will help support our scholarship programs, youth mentoring initiatives, community service projects, and other chapter activities throughout the year. Please consider supporting by choosing a day on the calendar to contribute your donation amount. (1st=$1. 5th=$5.00 etc.) Send your donation to your chosen Beta Rho member via their specified payment option.

This Fundraiser ends July 31st. Thank you so much for your consideration as you help to better enable us to uplift others. Supporters will be entered in a special raffle for surprises.

Beta Rho Chapter Served as a Bronze Sponsor for the Annual Dinkin’ in the Delta Summer Classic Pickleball Tournamnent. The sport is increasing in popularity and the growth has reached the Delta. As one of the leading entities of support for development in the Mississippi Delta, Beta Rho Chapter joined other groups to aide in making this Classic a success for the fastly growing sport.

Chapter Public Relations Director Troy Brown, Jr. participated in the tournament along with Brother Myles Hopson for doubles receiving 3.5-4.0.
