Before the awards, before the acclaim, before audiences around the world knew her name, Cassandra Fowlkes Wilson was a Millsaps student enjoying time with friends, playing music and building the foundation for a remarkable life. She was an active member of our performing arts community, singing with the Troubadours and performing with the Millsaps players.
Today, we remember Cassandra, whose extraordinary talent would take her from our Jackson to the world stage as a Grammy Award-winning artist. While audiences around the globe came to know her as a jazz icon, we’re proud to remember her as a member of the Millsaps family.
As we reflect on her life and legacy, we’re grateful Cassandra's story includes Millsaps, and we extend our deepest sympathies to her family, friends and countless fans.
