Whitefly reports have increased this week, but thankfully, most fields are not at economically damaging levels.

Scouting should emphasize drought-stressed fields with heavy honeydew and/or leaves beginning to yellow. If insect populations are increasing plant stress, consider a 0.75 lb/acre of acephate tankmixed with a high rate of imidacloprid.

Late-season pigweed continues to raise questions as plants break through the crop canopy. Most reports have come from cotton, where escaped pigweed is easier to spot, but more growers are now seeing escapes emerging above the soybean canopy as well.
