ELEVEN MODE IS SHOWING UP!

Congratulations to Charence Brice, Dimitrius Baker, Maurice Mitchell Lewis, Jordan Ford, and Zarek Williams, third place winners in the 2026 National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) Talent Development Competition!

The national competition challenges college students to apply critical thinking, teamwork and business knowledge to real issues facing the insurance industry. Our scholars represented Lane College with poise, preparation and professionalism.

Thank you to Lloyd’s for sponsoring our team and investing in the next generation of talent. We also celebrate the students, faculty and mentors whose preparation and encouragement helped make this achievement possible.

This is experiential learning at work. This is the Lane Effect in motion.

In our next LANE EFFECT series installment, we’re featuring Jacob & Regina Richmond!

Lane College brought Jacob and Regina Richmond to Jackson. They stayed, built a family, and developed multiple businesses that are helping shape the community around them.

Through Saucy Jake’s, Peppermint Addie’s, Skillet Junction, the historic Neely House, and other ventures, their Lane journey has become a story of entrepreneurship, job creation, historic preservation, and investment in Jackson.
That is The Lane Effect: when opportunity multiplies, the impact reaches far beyond the individual.

Our President, Dr. Donald W. Comer chaired the National Summit on the Sustainability of HBCUs in Atlanta, bringing together institutional leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to lead strategic solutions on shaping the future of HBCU’s. A tireless champion for HBCUs, Dr. Comer’s willingness to lead this conversation at the national level speaks volumes about the kind of leader he is. He shows up where the work is needed most. Lane College is fortunate and so is the HBCU community.
