Why choose Jackson College

• We focus on completion: Jackson College is a Leader College for Achieving the Dream. Leader Colleges are recognized for the quality of their work in college reform, resulting in increased completion rates for all students. The College has a Total Commitment to Student Success, which is a dedicated approach to helping all students reach their goals.

• In recent years the College has renovated McDivitt Hall, renovated the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse, added a state-of-the-art Information Technology and Library building (William Atkinson Hall), built campus housing complexes including family residences, renovated the core of Whiting Hall and renamed it the Rawal Center for Health Professions, and expanded student life with the return of athletics. In 2011 the Health Laboratory Center (HLC) was completed. The HLC includes laboratory spaces for nursing and allied health programs, including sonography, radiography, respiratory care, medical assistance and emergency medical technician. Bert Walker Hall has been renovated and serves as a center for student services, admissions, financial aid, tutoring services, veterans resources and multicultural center. JC was founded as Jackson Junior College in 1928 and operated as a division of the Jackson Union School District. In 1962, Jackson County voters created Jackson Community College as a distinct entity; and in 1964, they passed a charter millage that still helps to fund the College today. Rapid enrollment and program growth in the 1960s spurred leadership to build a new campus on its present site. Today, the College owns more than 500 acres and sits on a scenic rural site six miles south of the city of Jackson, and also operates the W.J. Maher Campus in Jackson, JC @ LISD TECH in Adrian, and the Clyde E. LeTarte Center Hillsdale. An integral educational and economic force in the Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale communities, the College operates on general fund budget of nearly $42 million.
