Meet our Director of Recruitment, LAKEN!!💝🌷
Today she shares her Why Mu and feelings about upcoming recruitment!

“Being able to serve as this year’s Phi Mu Membership Director has brought me unexplainable joy. Recruitment has had such a special place in my heart ever since I found my home in Phi Mu! Before coming to college, I never though about joining Greek Life and always thought it was cliché that people would say ‘I found my future bridesmaids in my sorority,’ but I can genuinely attest that it’s true. Coming into my freshman year was one of the hardest times and I felt alone, but then these girls become more than ‘sisters.’ Since day one, they have been my biggest support system and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I found women who believe in me, encourage me daily, and celebrate all my accomplishments, even the small ones.
Now being Recruitment Director, I have been challenged to become a better leader, more confident, and now I’m someone who strives to live by love, honor, and truth every day. I am beyond excited to meet PC ‘26 and watch them find their home and the place that brings them endless happiness! Your journey will be filled with emotions, tears, and joy. The special moments will make this week so memorable. No matter where your journey goes, I hope you embrace the conversations, trust the process, and enjoy it all!! We cannot wait for you to see our sisterhood and see what it means to all of us to be part of Phi Mu!

Meet Finn Barrios, our Phi Director and New Member Educator! Today she shares her Why Mu💕🤸‍♂️

“Before deciding on Millsaps, I didn’t consider going Greek because I didn’t think that I would fit in or belong. But, I ended up taking a chance and signing up for recruitment after it was mentioned to me on a tour. Walking into the Phi Mu lodge at open house, I realized that I was wrong about Greek life the whole time. Talking to these girls for the first time, I did feel like I belonged here. And on bid day, I was at home!!! Phi Mu gave me a sense of belonging that I had never felt before, in a place where I never expected it. Becoming a part of this chapter is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Thanks to this sisterhood and the opportunities that Phi Mu has given me, I have grown so much as a person. My sisters build me up, encourage me to live by Phi Mu’s values, and are always there when life gets hard. I am so proud to be a Phi Mu and I hold each and every one of my sisters so so close to my heart!!! 😊🩷”

Today meet Sandy, our chapter President, and hear her Why Mu!!

“I originally never planned on joining a sorority, but after coming to Millsaps, I met so many amazing people who happened to be part of Phi Mu without even realizing it. At the last second, I decided to go through recruitment, thinking I could always decide not to join. It ended up being one of the best decisions I could have made for my college experience. Phi Mu has pushed me to become the best version of myself, and the growth I have experienced from freshman year to now is something I never could have imagined. None of it has ever felt forced—it became a genuine part of who I am. Phi Mu saw something in me before I saw it in myself and helped bring it out. I am so grateful for the growth, support, experiences, and friendships I have gained, especially the sisters who have become some of my best friends and people I know I will have for a lifetime 💖💖”
