Lauren Groff is coming to St. Johns County to present her book "Florida"! The bestselling author and three-time National Book Award finalist will headline the January 2027 St. Johns Reads celebration.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Laura Roque to our department as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (fiction) this year!

More about Dr. Roque:

Laura Roque is the daughter of Cuban refugees and was raised in Hialeah, Florida. She won Kenyon Review’s Short Fiction Contest and Glimmer Train’s Fiction Open Contest. She was a Wallis Annenberg fellow at the University of Southern California, where she received her PhD in creative writing and literature. Her novel-in-progress focuses on Miami and matrilineages, received an award from the American Association of University Women as a project important to equity for women and girls. She is currently a visiting assistant professor at the University of North Florida.
