SAA members, past and present: This is Alan and I just wanted you all to know that my dear and beautiful wife, Elizabeth, passed away this past week. Thank you all SO much for being a part of our lives! We will never forget the volunteer work done with the Consignment Sale, the Shrimp Boil, and all of the other activities. There have been a few contributions to the organization in Elizabeth's name. I hope this organization continues to help shape people's lives in the future! - Alan

Last year's SAA president Philip Tice representing JSU for the Higher Education Partnership! We're proud of you Philip Tice!

Higher education can impact more than just yourself. Philip Tice, SAA President at Jacksonville State University, shares his higher education story. “Higher education is the number one way to grow our society in general, and if we don’t invest in the education of our people, people aren’t going to grow as much as they can. Coming to Jacksonville State, higher education has allowed me to expand my knowledge and impact those around me and share in the possibilities of what you can learn and what's out there in the world.”

For several years, JSU's SAA has been working at the consignment sale at First Methodist Church in Jacksonville as a fundraiser. You've always been a vital part of this event for local families. As wonderful as the students helping have always been, there has never been a more outstanding representation of JSU and your organization than we had this week for our fall sale. Thank you for your excellent representation of JSU this week. The initiative, work ethic, enthusiasm and professionalism show by the SAA students helping this week made an impression on this community that will last for a very long time. Personally, I'd like to thank you all for your hard work. You cannot imagine what it meant to me personally and as the organizer of this event.
As a JSU graduate ('79) I am honored to be involved in bringing the Capturing Pablo/Crisis Management & Conflict Resolution event to Cedartown , Ga. on Saturday, August 26. Retired DEA Agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña give 1st hand true accounts of their investigation, the capture, and the killing of narco-trafficker/terrorist Pablo Escobar. The hit Netflix show NARCOS is based on the exploits of Murphy and Peña when they were literally at "ground zero" when Colombia was considered the murder capital of the world. The event is an outstanding history lesson and training session (management/resolution) rolled into one. Tickets ($25 & $20) may be purchased at www.cedartownshows.com or by calling the auditorium at 770-748-4168. Doors open at 5pm. Show begins at 6pm. Beer, wine, sodas available for purchase. I hope to see you there!--J.P.
Can we please change the lights? Extremely disappointed that my alma mater has taken a political stance by lighting up the Houston Cole library with rainbow colors. I don’t believe this was necessary for the continued success of the University.
