The results are in from UNF’s solar eclipse research mission in Spain!

CCEC electrical and mechanical engineering students recently helped collect rare scientific data during the August 12 total solar eclipse as part of a NASA-supported research mission in Spain.

The team launched three high-altitude balloons, collected atmospheric and radiation data, and is now analyzing some compelling early results.

Congratulations to UNF civil engineering student Annabelle Lovell, who received a scholarship from the Deep Foundations Institute Educational Trust General Scholarship Fund!

Annabelle is currently conducting undergraduate research with Dr. Pegah Ghasemi, assistant professor of civil engineering, focused on the durability of biocemented soils.

The DFI Educational Trust scholarship supports students pursuing civil and geotechnical engineering, construction management and other fields related to deep foundations.

Congratulations, Annabelle, on this well-deserved recognition and your continued work in civil engineering research!

For more than 18 years, Dr. Karthikeyan Umapathy has connected computing students with community partners to tackle real-world challenges using data science and AI. Through projects with nonprofits across Northeast Florida, students gain hands-on experience developing solutions in areas like food insecurity, health, education and behavioral well-being.

We had so much fun at our annual CCEC Club Cookout!

Eighteen of our computing, engineering and construction management clubs and organizations welcomed more than 250 students and shared information about their clubs, upcoming activities and ways to get involved.

Students enjoyed free BBQ while connecting with classmates and learning more about opportunities across our college.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our student leaders who helped make the cookout such a fun and welcoming start to the semester!
