Drs. Christa Arnold and Stephynie Perkins received top honors at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication international conference in New Orleans. Arnold and Perkins won first-place faculty paper and the diversity award for the History Division of AEJMC. Their manuscript was titled “Echoes of 1968: Elevating the Voices of African Americans in Editorials, Editorial Cartoons, and Letters to the Editor Relevance of Editorial Pages in Black Newspapers. Their co-author, Bryce Bentley, was unable to attend.

The School of Communication was excited to celebrate with their graduates on May 1st. The ballroom was filled with students, their families and School faculty. The Outstanding Students in the undergraduate and graduate programs were recognized as well as the Student Ambassadors.

Prof. Goodin also took a few minutes to recognize Dr. Parmelee and his accomplishments as the Chair/Director for over 12 years. Dr. Parmelee will be stepping down as Director this summer. We are happy that he will remain with the School of Communication as a faculty member.
