Chapter Facts:
Although there were three women's groups represented at Boston University in 1888, Sarah Ida Shaw saw a need for a group which would be different from the others. She said to her friend, Eleanor Dorcas Pond, "Let us found a society that shall be kind alike to all and

think more of a girl's inner self and character than of her personal appearance." Since 1888, more than 238,000 women have joined the Tri Delta sisterhood at 180 chapters in both the United States and Canada and pledged to "steadfastly love one another." This open motto describesthe stong feelings of support our memebrs provide to one another throughout a lifetime of membership in Delta Delta Delta. Sarah Ida Shaw, Boston, envisioned a women's fraternity that would inspire the ideals of truth, self-sacrifice and friendship. Tri Delta's Purpose keeps those goals alive with our members today.
