The Florida Board of Governors has unanimously confirmed Dr. Michael P. Shannon as the eighth president of the University of North Florida.

Dr. Shannon shared his vision for UNF: “UNF is at an inflection point and has tremendous momentum. Now we have an opportunity to build on that thoughtfully and boldly, strengthening the student experience, investing in our people and growing our impact without losing what makes UNF special.”

💜 Serving with Joy at the HCA Orange Park NICU Reunion 💜

Each September, our nursing students are invited to volunteer at the HCA Orange Park NICU Reunion, a special event that brings together former NICU patients, their families, NICU staff, physicians, nurse practitioners, and hospital leadership.

Our students dedicated their time and talents throughout this day-long event, connecting with families, celebrating incredible success stories, and witnessing the lasting impact of compassionate neonatal care. Their joyful hearts, professionalism, and commitment to service made a meaningful difference for everyone in attendance.

We are proud of our students for representing the UNF’s School of Nursing so well and for embracing opportunities to serve their community while learning from healthcare professionals and families alike. 💙🩺

📚🌍 International Collaboration in Nurse Anesthesiology Education
The UNF School of Nursing was honored to welcome distinguished colleagues from Germany as they shared their expertise with our first-year Nurse Anesthesiology students. This valuable educational exchange provided students with a global perspective on healthcare education and practice.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear colleague, teacher, mentor, and friend, Dr. Kathleen “Kathy” Bloom.

Dr. Bloom devoted much of her remarkable career to educating and inspiring nurses at the University of North Florida. Her legacy lives on in the countless students she taught, encouraged, and influenced, and in the patients and communities they continue to serve.

We invite our students, alumni, faculty, and friends to honor Dr. Bloom by sharing a memory or reflection about the impact she made in your life. Her impact on UNF Nursing will not be forgotten. 💙

Congratulations to the inaugural clinical group in the newest partnership between the UNF School of Nursing and Mayo Clinic! Twelve senior nursing students have been selected to participate in the Mayo Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) for their Senior Nurse Practicum.

After completing orientation, these future nurses are ready to soar as they begin this exciting clinical experience. We can't wait to see the impact they make! 💙🩺
