Spring often brings extra spending—vacations, end-of-school activities, and summer planning. Before you spend, ask yourself: Is your want list longer than your need list?

A need is something essential, like food, water, housing, and transportation.
A want is something you would like to have, but can live without.

The real question is not whether you want it—it is whether your budget can support it.

One of the best ways to make confident financial decisions is to create a budget and track your expenses. A budget helps you see where your money is going and whether there is room for the things you want after your needs are covered.
