The Beta Omicron Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Our members are active and retired teachers, principals, daycare providers, directors, librarians, guidance counselors, college faculty, school psychologists, superintendents and other education-related staff. 117-08 Merrick Blvd. in Jamaica. Big Sister programs include an after school tutorial program with an emphasis on computer literacy; computer classes for adults; a senior citizen recreation program on Saturdays, year-round food pantry that operates two days a week. Food to be donated to the community residents is provided by City Harvest and other agencies. Sponsors two high school age youth groups, one for males (KUDOS) and females (XINOS). The youth learn leadership skills, strengthen their academics, complete community service projects, and have social events in a supervised setting. Gives scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors who apply to the Chapter. Scholarship money is raised through our annual Scholarship Fundraising Luncheon. Has many local projects including annual Easter and Christmas parties for community children; the donation of school supplies to an elementary school in the community; the annual donation of clothing, toys and books for children to a local hospital in the community; and the annual African American History Program presentation which is open to the public. National Committee Chair, Carolyn Gibson and Committee of Academic Issues and Current Trends reminds us that we cannot sit on the sidelines while our voting strength and our schools are compromised. Let us use our collective voice, our votes, and our leadership to safeguard the future of our children and our communities.

To counter the impact of this ruling, we must move from awareness to collective, strategic action. We should commit to the following steps:

1. Maximize Voter Registration and Turnout, Organize Voter Drives

2. Actively register voters in underrepresented communities and ensure neighbors have the necessary identification and information to vote.

3. Mobilize for Every Election: Emphasize that local, state, and midterm elections are just as critical as presidential races—especially when electing school board members and state legislators who redraw district maps.
