Right after I hit post yesterday, Professor Mahoney informs me that the Alumni Spotlight I chose for this month received ND SHAPE High School PE Teacher of the Year last week?!

Not only that, but another UJ KNS Grad received the ND SHAPE Elementary PE Teacher of the Year award 🤯🤯

We're so proud of you! How exciting it is to see our alumni recognized for their hard work and the impact they have on the future generation.

Congratulations to Quinn Irey (Class of 2018) and George Gauld (Class of 2015) 🎉👏

Another school year means another year to recognize our awesome UJ KNS Alum 🧡🖤

Starting the year off strong with Quinn Irey, 2018 Physical Education Teacher Education graduate with Coaching and History minors.

Quinn went on to obtain a M.A. in Educational Leadership from NDSU in 2024.

Quinn is a Physical Education teacher and Head Baseball Coach at Horace High School in Horace, North Dakota (West Fargo Public Schools). He says the favorite part of his job is teaching a new class, Unified P.E. which is going really well! On top of that, he loves having a variety of classes that he teachers – it keeps him on his toes.

Outside of work, Quinn enjoys coaching baseball, hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, reading, and spending time with family.

Quinn’s advice to current UJ KNS students, “Pay attention to the little things that you can control--being on time, having a positive attitude, being enthusiastic, looking for the positive in situations. It makes the process a lot more enjoyable!”
