According to the USDA, this was the estimated number of meat and other goats in Wisconsin as of January 1, 2025!

Did you know sheep have rectangular pupils? 👀

Their unique pupil shape gives sheep a wide field of vision, helping them keep an eye on their surroundings and spot potential predators while grazing.

Just another unique feature that helps sheep stay aware of what’s happening around them! 🐑🌾

🏆 WLBA Master Stockman Spotlight: Olivia Lulich

We’re catching up with past WLBA Master Stockman recipient Olivia Lulich to see where agriculture has taken her!

🎓 Olivia graduated from Iowa State University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education. Today, she is a full-time agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Viroqua Area Schools. Olivia is also currently Miss Wisconsin USA!

🐂 Olivia has also stayed active in the livestock industry! She and her brother co-own Lulich Show Stock in Lyndon Station, where they raise and sell club calves.

When asked why youth should apply for Master Stockman, Olivia shared:

“Youth should apply because they put in the work at home, and this is one way to be rewarded. As a teacher, I always preach about what can set you apart in a job interview, and experiences like Master Stockman can allow you to do just that!”

Master Stockman is an opportunity to showcase your livestock knowledge, hard work, and experiences while building skills that can continue to benefit you long after your time in the show ring. 🏆

🐷 Fun Fact Friday!

Any guesses on how many pigs are born in Wisconsin each year? 👀

In 2023, Wisconsin’s pig crop totaled an impressive 1.1 MILLION pigs! That’s approximately 1,105,000 pigs born in just one year.

Did that number surprise you? 🐷

🐑 WLBA Member Spotlight! 🐑

Congratulations to Paisley Groleau on an incredible first year showing sheep!

Paisley kicked off her year by attending the WLBA Show Camp for sheep before hitting the show ring with her market lamb, Tucker. She exhibited at Spring Preview and the Cranberry Rumble, where she placed 8th Overall Junior Showman.

She wrapped up her season at the Waukesha County Fair in a big way, earning:

🏆 Grand Champion Market Lamb
🏆 Grand Champion Beginner Showman

But the season was about much more than banners. Paisley spent countless hours working with Tucker and created an incredible bond with him from the moment she selected him and brought him home through the final night of county fair.

Congratulations, Paisley, on a great first year in the sheep barn! We can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
