Evan Loukadakis of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Heidi Van Kirk of the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association (SCWBA) briefed Forward Janesville Inc.’s Government Relations Council today on federal and state efforts to address housing affordability.
The presentation included an overview of the federal 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act and key provisions of recently enacted Wisconsin housing laws. The discussion centered on how local governments, including the City of Janesville, can put the measures’ tools and guidance into practice to encourage housing development and expand access to affordable housing.
Housing is a key priority for Forward Janesville Inc. As the region’s local home builders association, the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association (SCWBA) is proud to serve as a trusted partner by providing industry expertise and practical insight into legislative and governmental initiatives that support housing development and economic growth.
SCWBA’s advocacy is strengthened by the home building industry’s three-tiered association structure, which connects local associations with the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) at the state level and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) at the federal level. Working together, these organizations played an important role in advancing the state and federal housing measures discussed and in ensuring that the industry’s perspective informed the policymaking process.
