Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus: The Gift of Love and Hospitality 🙏

Today the Church honors three siblings whose home in Bethany became a place of grace. Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus teach us profound lessons about friendship with Jesus and the different ways we serve Him.

Martha shows us the virtue of hospitality—creating space and serving with generous hands. Mary teaches us the essential need for contemplation—sitting at Jesus' feet to listen. And Lazarus reminds us that Christ's power and love can raise us from our spiritual death.

These three weren't perfect. Martha worried. Mary chose the "better part." Lazarus was forgotten in the tomb. Yet Jesus loved them fiercely. He called them his friends. When Lazarus died, Jesus wept.

The question for us today: How are we living like the Bethany family? Are we balancing the active life of service with the contemplative life of prayer? Are we opening our homes and hearts to Christ in a tangible way?

🕯️⚜️ Feast of Sts. Louis & Zélie Martin — July 12 ⚜️🕯️

A watchmaker. A lacemaker. A husband and wife who went to daily Mass, buried four children, suffered deeply — and never stopped trusting God.

Out of that home came five daughters who became nuns, including St. Thérèse of Lisieux.

Here in Cajun Country, we know what it means to pass the faith down through family — at the dinner table, at Sunday Mass, on our knees at the rosary. Louis and Zélie lived that same truth in France.

At Knights of Columbus Council 1425, family is at the heart of everything we do. Strong families build strong parishes — and strong communities.

Knights of Columbus Council 1425 is proud and blessed to recognize Josh and Brandy St. Germain as our Family of the Month! 🎉

If you've spent any time at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, you already know this family. Josh and Brandy are the ones who show up — quietly, faithfully, and without hesitation — wherever there is a need. Whether it's serving at a parish event, lending a helping hand behind the scenes, or simply being a steady and loving presence in our community, they embody what it means to live the faith, not just profess it.

🌹 Happy Feast Day, St. Maria Goretti! 🌹

Today, July 6th, the Church celebrates an 11-year-old girl who chose death over sin — and forgave her killer with her dying breath.

That kind of courage doesn't happen by accident. It's built by faith lived daily.

As Knights of Columbus, that's exactly what we're called to — protecting the innocent, defending the faith, and raising up families who produce saints.
St. Maria didn't need a sword to be a warrior. Neither do we.

St. Maria Goretti, pray for us. Pray for our families. Pray for Council 1425. ✝️🗡️

The next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you can thank a dedicated group of Catholic gentlemen for two of its most powerful words: "under God." Before 1954, the Pledge didn’t include those words. It was actually the Knights of Columbus who spearheaded the movement to change that!

Starting in 1951, the Knights began a massive, nationwide campaign, adoption resolutions, and lobbying government leaders to officially recognize our nation's trust in God. Thanks to their tireless efforts, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the bill into law on Flag Day, June 14, 1954.

We are incredibly proud of this legacy of faith, patriotism, and service. 🇺🇸✨

Knights of Columbus throughout the United States have anticipated the country’s 250th anniversary by supporting the U.S. bishops’ campaign calling on parishes to offer 250 hours of Eucharistic adoration and perform 250 works of mercy. From participating in the 2026 National Eucharistic Pilgrimage to enthroning the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the Supreme Council headquarters and in their own homes, Knights are honoring the anniversary by placing Christ at the center.
