Website: https://jeffcitykappas.squarespace.com Kappa Alpha Psi , a college Fraternity, now comprised of functioning Undergraduate and Alumni Chapters on major campuses and in cities throughout the country, is the crystallization of a dream. It is the beautiful realization of a vision shared commonly by the late Revered Founders Elder Watson Diggs; John Milton Lee; Byron Kenneth Armstrong; Guy Lev

is Grant; Ezra Dee Alexander; Henry Tourner Asher; Marcus Peter Blakemore; Paul Waymond Caine; Edward Giles Irvin and George Wesley Edmonds. It was the vision of these astute men that enabled them in the school year 1910 - 11, more specifically the night of January 5, 1911, on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana, to sow the seed of a fraternal tree whose fruit is available to, and now enjoyed by, college men everywhere, regardless of their color, religion or national origin. It is a fact of which KAPPA ALPHA PSI is justly proud that the Constitution has never contained any clause which either excluded or suggested the exclusion of a man from membership merely because of his color, creed, or national origin. The Constitution of KAPPA ALPHA PSI is predicated upon, and dedicated to, the principles of achievement through a truly democratic Fraternity. Chartered and incorporated originally under the laws of the State of Indiana as Kappa Alpha Nu on May 15, 1911, the name was changed to KAPPA ALPHA PSI on a resolution offered and adopted at the Grand Chapter in December 1914. This change became effective April 15, 1915, on a proclamation by the then Grand Polemarch, Elder Watson Diggs. Thus, the name acquired a distinctive Greek letter symbol and KAPPA ALPHA PSI thereby became a Greek letter Fraternity in every sense of the designation.

On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned what the Emancipation Proclamation had declared more than two years prior…they were free. That moment, now honored nationally as Juneteenth, stands as one of the most consequential dates in American history and in the legacy of Black America.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, not simply as a date in history, but as a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and unyielding spirit of a people who never stopped believing in freedom.

As men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., we reflect on the sacrifices of those who endured unimaginable hardship, celebrate the progress forged through courage and perseverance, and recommit ourselves to the pursuit of justice, equality, and service to all mankind.

May we never forget that freedom delayed is freedom denied, and that the responsibility to protect, preserve, and advance liberty belongs to each generation.

University of Missouri (Mizzou), where state and federal DEI restrictions recently forced the university to strip away crucial, long-standing designated funding from the Legion of Black Collegians (LBC)—the historic Black student government that has protected and voiced student needs on that campus since 1968.

Enter Kappa Alpha Psi’s own Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley and the legendary congregation of Alfred Street Baptist Church! During a powerful sermon, Dr. Wesley announced that the historic 220-year-old Virginia church is stepping directly into the gap to fully fund Mizzou’s Black student government!

They didn’t just write a check; they helped the students establish an independent 501(c)(3) to keep their legacy completely protected from outside political pressure.

Dr. Wesley put it: “When you won’t support us, we will support our own. We take care of our own people.” This is the exact blueprint of self-reliance, community care, and leadership

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inco. salutes every fallen soldier today and every day. Your courage lives in the freedom we walk in.

Your sacrifice lives in the lives we are able to build. We do not take a single moment of it for granted. Hold your veterans close today. Honor the ones who are no longer here. And if you have never said thank you to someone who served, today is the day.

Some debts can never be repaid. Only honored. Rest in power to every warrior who gave all they had. We will never forget
