From student-athlete to military service to a future career in physical therapy, Raphael Ayeni ’21 is building a career shaped by discipline, determination and a passion for helping others.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Singapore, Raphael earned his Associate Degree in Psychology from Manor College, where he competed in men's basketball and track. Following two years of national military service in Singapore, he returned to the United States to earn his bachelor's degree from Temple University.

Today, Raphael is pursuing his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Drexel University.

In the latest episode of The Nest: Stories About Life After Manor College, Raphael reflects on his international upbringing, the value of athletics, his military experience and the lessons that continue to guide his professional journey.

Congratulations to Manor College President Dr. Jonathan Peri, who was named to the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Academic Affairs Committee.

“I’m honored to serve on the committee, which is doing excellent work to help develop leaders who will energize the Catholic spirit of peace and justice in our world,” Dr. Peri said.

The Seminary, located in Ambler, was founded in 1832 and remains the oldest Catholic institution of higher learning in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Its mission is to form priests to be shepherds after the heart of Jesus Christ, and permanent deacons, religious and lay men and women for various forms of ministry, service and discipleship.

The purpose of the AAC, advisory to the Board, is to recommend to the Board institutional academic policies, interpret approved policies to the administration and provide to the Board informational reports concerning the results of implementation.

The term starts this Fall and continues through December 31, 2030. Dr. Jonathan Peri, Jenkintown’s President of Manor College, has been named to serve on the Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) of the Board of Trustees for Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Manor College will honor Mark and Ann Baiada , of BAYADA Home Health Care, as its 2026 Evening with Manor Gala honorees.

“Ann and I are deeply honored to be recognized by Manor College,” said Mark Baiada. “We believe in the power of education to change lives, and we are especially grateful to support a program that is preparing nurses to care for people with skill, compassion, and love. When we visited the skills lab and met the students, we could see their determination and their potential. The world needs good nurses, and these students are answering that call. We look forward to seeing the difference they will make in the lives of their patients, families, and communities.”

In the last few years, the Baiadas have been a steady presence at Manor College. The couple have been an integral part of Manor’s Practical Nursing program, which is currently in its second year. In addition to their vast knowledge and expertise in the field, the couple donated a pair of state-of-the-art patient simulator mannequins for the institution’s skills lab. The pair served as Commencement Orators at Manor College’s graduation in May.

La Salle University and Manor College are entering a new partnership that will open doors for Blue Jays to receive an advanced degree as Explorers.

Students from Manor College who have earned an undergraduate degree are guaranteed admission to many of La Salle’s graduate programs, including Business Administration, Artificial Intelligence, Education, Professional Clinical Counseling, Public Health and Social Work.

Manor students will also benefit from a streamlined admissions process and a clear pathway toward their La Salle master’s degree from the moment they enroll as a Blue Jay.

Congratulations to Dr. Stephanie Parker! Dr. Parker, the Program Director of Dental Hygiene and Chair of Sciences at Manor College, completed her Doctorate of Health Sciences with Jefferson University.

On Thursday, her students and Dental Hygiene staff combined to celebrate the achievement.
