Kean Jersey City campus welcomes students from WKU and Brazil!! 🇧🇷🇨🇳

On August 17th, students from China and Brazil ended their orientation tour at the Visual Arts Building. From sculpture workshop, photography dark rooms, to printmaking space, we’re happy to show students around our amazing facilities. Thank you to everyone who came (and endured the heat 😅)

On Sunday, I biked to Lincoln Park to join the walking tour of "In the Wind," a public art project curated by Tina Manesa. 90 banners representing the diversity of the artists in Hudson County flapped in the wind, intriguing passers-by. The back includes the artist name and title. It's simple, but the planning, selection process, production, and ex*****on were a major undertaking. Big kudos to Tina Maneca for carrying out such a complex project!!

It was a wonderful wrap up of the summer internship program, funded by the last grant received by NJCU. We are proud of everyone who participated. A big shout out to Keyana Rogers & Madison Padilla for working at the gallery and the Visual Arts Building these two months!

We visited PS1 to wrap up our summer internship program. These two - Keyana and Madison - from my Contemporary Art class last semester have been such a delight to work with. The Greater New York, currently on view there, does provide a glimpse into what's been created in New York by artists from around the world. With the summer program starting tonight, it's a worthwhile destination to hit this season.
Ending the trip with the volumeful food at Court Square Diner was a treat!

Congrats on Toshihisa Yoda on the opening of his "Continuum 1967-Todsy," part II, featuring paintings from the 2000s! Brilliantly-colored paintings enliven NOWHERE's spacious white space.

Two summer interns - Keyana and Madison - who have been helping our gallery attended the opening, too.

We also visited other Tribeca galleries on our way: Jack Shainman, Artists Space, Andrew Kreps, Shirley Fiterman Art Center at BMCC. It was a quick tour of downtown galleries.

The Paul Robeson Galleries was founded in 1979 at the Robeson Campus Center at Rutgers University – Newark. Named after one of the University’s most famous alumni, the galleries’ mission and programming embody Paul Robeson’s life-long commitment to unfettered artistic freedom, cultural democracy, and transnationalism manifested through a network of exhibition spaces on campus, and extensive community outreach programs, education programs and an active public programs series including happenings, lectures, panels, symposia, readings, receptions, and performances.

We had a blast with the opening of Echoverie exhibition curated by our recent BFA grads: Via, Sam, and AJ! The show features 85 works by 35 artists who participated through an open call. Some attended from Paterson and farther towns. Although many NJCU alumni were present, some alumni from HCCC and St. Peters were there as well.

An impressive curatorial project!!

The first Eco-Youth Art Exhibition, co-organized by McNair Highschool Environment Club members and the Embankment Preservation Coalition was a big success, drawing numerous families and young artists to the NJCU Visual Arts Gallery.

Huge kudos to all those who were involved and participating artists and their teachers and parents!

It was particularly heartwarming to see the NJCU Art alum, Riya Bhajan, who teaches art at PS 11 and her talented student artists!
