The Milligan community remains deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayer, compassion, and support we have received following the devastating loss of Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers and the injuries of several other members of our cycling team. In the midst of profound grief, we have been reminded again and again of the strength of a community rooted in Christ that comes together to care for one another.

This week, our campus has also welcomed students back for a new academic year, some for the very first time. These days have held many things at once: the joy of reunion, the hope and anticipation of a new beginning, and the very real grief and struggle our community continues to carry. We are learning what it means to hold all of these things, leaning on Christ and our community.

The families of Haylan and Brayden have each scheduled services in their home communities, where families and friends will gather to remember and celebrate their lives. As those services take place, we ask that you continue to pray especially for their families, our cycling team, our students who are recovering and their families, and all those who are carrying the weight of this tragedy.

Through all of this, we continue to hold fast to the hope we have in Jesus Christ, trusting that Christ meets us in our grief, walks with us in our joy, and remains faithful through every season.

Welcome Week is officially underway! 🦬

Last night, our newest Buffs enjoyed the annual freshman trip to Doe River Gorge, spending time together and making memories as they begin their Milligan journey.

Move-In Day is here! 🧡

Today, we welcome a new class of Buffs home to Milligan. Cars are being unloaded, residence halls are buzzing, and our campus is once again filled with students, families, faculty, and staff. 

There’s something really meaningful about gathering together as a Milligan community. As we begin this new year, we’re grateful for the people who make this place what it is and for the ways our community continues to show up for one another.

We are profoundly shocked and saddened to share that members of our cycling team were in an accident involving a vehicle this morning while cycling in Hampton, TN. Sophomores Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers were killed in this accident. Multiple other Milligan cyclists were also seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Johnson City Medical Center. There are no words to adequately describe this level of loss. Our prayers are with all those impacted by this tragedy. Please keep the Milligan community in your prayers.
