Currently a Municipal Judge for the City of Elizabethton, Teresa K. Murray Smith earned undergraduate degrees from ETSU in History and Political Science, which helped her understand U.S. Government and its judicial system. Initially choosing the university for its affordability, she soon realized she was receiving a higher quality education than many of her peers attending large schools. During her student tenure, she was in Phi Gamma Mu History Honor Society, Student Senate, and various political clubs. Smith feels blessed to have had professors who cared about her and encouraged her. Previously an Assistant District Attorney General in Kingsport, Teresa is gratified to now be living and working in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She is the 4th generation in her family to live in the home and farm, where she resides with her Labrador Retriever and two horses. She enjoys raising flowers and herbs, caring for her animals, reading, Bible studies and is active in local politics and government.
