Thank you to the 100+ students, staff, and faculty who joined us for our annual Hispanic Heritage celebrations!

Participants gathered to craft hand-cut Papel Picado, a traditional folk art, which was used to decorate our main Hispanic Heritage Potluck. This annual event continues to grow each year, bringing our campus community together through shared tradition and authentic cuisine.

We are thrilled to share this real example of how the SUNY Reconnect program is helping people change their careers and their lives, right here at SUNY FMCC and across New York State.

Meet George Dunckley. After 25 years of postal delivery truck driving and municipal housing work, George enrolled at SUNY FMCC at 53 and is well on his way to an associate’s degree in Addiction Services, thanks to SUNY Reconnect. This fall, 91 FMCC students are using the program to pursue high demand fields tuition free, and starting in January 2027 even more New Yorkers will be eligible.
