Our third study abroad spotlight is from Junior Maya Lee! Maya is studying in Cáceres, Spain 🇪🇸
Below are some words from Maya about her program
“I am studying abroad in Cáceres España 🇪🇸 My program focuses on cultural and language immersion with community volunteer aspects. My favorite parts of the program have been seeing growth in my confidence and ability to speak Spanish. I hope to be as close as possible to fluent as I can when I come home. I have also enjoyed learning about the culture differences and being able to experience so many new things.
I had the opportunity to play on a clay court for the first time and have been able to run and play tennis in some of the most beautiful courts I’ve ever seen!
My classes are entirely in Spanish which has been difficult but also rewarding. I am taking Spanish language, Spanish literature, European history, and two educational psychology classes. My ICRP is in a nursing home working with the doctor and physical therapy team to help the residents improve their quality of life. So far I have also loved traveling around southern Europe, trying new food, and singing karaoke. It’s been amazing to escape my bubble and make new friends and experience new places. I am planning on traveling to France, Italy, Portugal, and doing a backpacking trip Morocco!”
We are so glad Maya is enjoying her time in Spain, and we look forward to her return this February!
