When Lillian Johnson submitted a short story to Phi Theta Kappa's national literary competition, she never imagined she would make FVCC history.
Out of more than 4,000 submissions from community college students across the country, Lillian's story, The Wooden Battle, was selected for publication in the PTK Honors anthology, making her the first FVCC student to earn the recognition.
Originally studying forensic chemistry, Lillian discovered that writing was where her passion truly belonged. Now pursuing art with plans to become an art educator, she's also a published novelist and serves as a resident assistant on campus.
Her advice to other students? "Just go for it. I never imagined I'd be selected nationally, but it happened."
