Research College of Nursing Shaping Kansas City’s next generation of nurses since 1905 with hands-on training, leadership, and compassionate care.

Research College of Nursing has its roots in the history of Research Medical Center, which began in 1886 as the German Hospital. The German Hospital Training School for Nurses was founded in June 1905 with five students enrolled in the first class and five others who later transferred from other nursing schools. Since 1906, the year of the first graduating class, over 2,200 professionals have grad

uated from the School of Nursing and over 3,000 have graduated from the College of Nursing. Today, over 500 nursing students are enrolled across RCoN’s Bachelor and Master’s degree programs.

Yesterday we hosted the Research Medical Center Nurse Externship Meeting, and our students had the chance to hear real, honest advice from a panel of new nurses. They shared what they wish they had known as new grads, answered questions, and offered encouragement for the journey ahead. We even welcomed back a few familiar RCoN alumni faces. 💙

We’re so excited to share that Dr. Nicole H. Kreimer, DNP, RN, PHNA-BC, Assistant Professor at the Research College of Nursing, has been published in 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦, the official publication of the Missouri Nurses Association! 👏

Her article explores how nurses can make a real difference in environmental sustainability and waste management in healthcare. It’s a thoughtful look at an important issue, and a great example of the kind of work our faculty care deeply about.

Congratulations to Dr. Kreimer on this accomplishment. We’re proud to see her work recognized and shared with the broader nursing community.

What a beautiful, unforgettable day. Watching our graduates cross the stage felt like watching years of hard work, sacrifice, resilience, and heart come to life. We are so proud of these future nurses and the impact they are already preparing to make in every patient’s life.

Katie Bruels, HCA Midwest Health Division Chief Nursing Executive, delivered a keynote that moved the entire room. Her words reminded us why this profession matters and why our students are stepping into it with such purpose and strength. Her message was the perfect sendoff for a class that has already shown so much courage and compassion.

Here’s to our graduates — for every late night, every clinical, every challenge they pushed through, and every dream they’re about to chase. Our hearts are full. 💙✨
