🔪🥩 First kitchen lab of the semester is underway!

KCKCC's Foods II Culinary Arts students got hands-on experience butchering a full strip loin while learning the importance of raw yield testing, a key industry skill used to evaluate product yield, cost, and efficiency.

After fabrication, students transformed their cuts into a classic culinary dish: New York Strip Steak au Poivre served with Potato Gratin. 🍽️

From butchery and yield analysis to cooking and plating, students are building the technical skills used in professional kitchens every day.

KCKCC's HVAC program has been working on obtaining OSHA 10 construction training credentials the first two weeks of the fall semester. Most construction job sites require workers to possess their OSHA 10 cards. During the training, all of our morning, afternoon and evening students learned how to safely set and climb an extension ladder.

Construction students at the Pioneer Career Center are learning to use a total station, an instrument for surveying and building construction. It measures vertical and horizontal angles, as well as the slope distance to a specific point. To calculate a concrete grade, students find a benchmark, set up the instrument, calculate target elevations, and account for slope and thickness.
