An article by clinical laboratory science doctoral student Sean Witt was featured in ASCLS Today, the membership newsletter of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. His piece was titled "Improving Diagnostic Accuracy and Equity in Older Adults through Age-Adjusted Reference Intervals." Nice work!

The article argues that traditional reference intervals based on younger adults often misclassify normal age‑related changes in older patients as disease.

Eric Walradth, a student in our doctoral program in clinical laboratory science, was co-author on a letter to the editor published in the Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In it, they report on a review of nucleated red blood cell values to determine if an updated reference interval may be appropriate. Nice work!

The Archives is the monthly, peer-reviewed medical journal of the College of American Pathologists.
