Keene State is proud to celebrate alumnus Peter M. Hanrahan on the publication of his new book, Dead Man’s Ridge: The Bravery of American Paratroopers at the Battle of the Bulge, released August 4 by Stackpole Books.

Peter, a Keene native, served as sports editor of The Equinox from 1971–1973 and later returned to KSC as a staff member, serving as Sports Information Director, Intramural Director, and Track Coach. He received the College’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2025.

Dead Man’s Ridge tells the story of Peter’s wife’s uncle, Niilo Liimatainen, a member of the 17th Airborne Division who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Peter first interviewed Niilo more than 30 years ago and remained committed to telling his story.

🛥️ Golden Circle on Lake Winnipesaukee

Last week, members of our Golden Circle Society gathered for a beautiful day on Lake Winnipesaukee! It was a great afternoon spent catching up with fellow KSC alumni and enjoying the views from the water.

This July, Steve Osciak '88 organized a summer reunion that brought together a group of Keene State friends from the Classes of 1987–1992 for a cookout at a local park. With beautiful weather, custom reunion T-shirts, and plenty of stories from their days on campus, it was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and make new memories together.

📖 Throwing it back to 1991 at Keene State! 🎓

The pages of The Kronicle yearbook capture so many of the moments that made senior year unforgettable.

🚢 The Class of 1991 celebrated their final year with a senior class trip cruise to Nova Scotia.

🛶 Senior Week brought adventure (and a little excitement!) at College Camp—where a canoe trip across the lake took an unexpected turn when students discovered a hole halfway across!

🎤🏊‍♀️ Greek Week brought out the competitive spirit with events ranging from air band and pie eating to swimming and running competitions.

🩸 In Butler Hall, 321 students came together to donate blood and make a difference.

🎶 The Pub on the second floor of the Student Union was a favorite spot for students to gather and make memories.

⚽ On the field, the men’s soccer team had a season to remember, finishing with a 16-6-1 record and capturing the ECAC Championship title!
