Last week, we hosted our first annual Dance Scholar Symposium at the KSU Department of Dance, celebrating the research and creative work of our student scholars 🧠

This event perfectly reflects our program’s dance-scholar model, where artistry and academic inquiry go hand in hand. Our students demonstrated the depth and versatility of dance as both practice and research. Also shoutout to Professor Pourzal & Professor Eckman for mentoring these students through these projects & hosting this event!

We are also proud to have had student representation at the university-wide Symposium of Student Scholars at Kennesaw State University, expanding the presence of dance across disciplines.

Moments like this highlight the strength of a BA program that values both intellectual and artistic excellence, and the students who continue to embody it. Congrats dancers!

Tomorrow is our first annual Dance Scholar Symposium!

It's that special time of year when we celebrate the scholarly work of our dance students. This year's event will feature research presentations by Amber Solana, Charlene Font, Deontae Nelson, Gianna Post, Maura Kelly, and Natalie Sigur.

Come celebrate the work of these scholars tomorrow, April 27th, 3:30 PM - 5 PM in Studio 4, and this symposium is open to the community! See you there🧠🩰

KSU Dance students have been collaborating this semester with the Department of Theatre & Performance Studies in "The Beauty Project: Through the Looking Glass". This is an immersive performance at Smith-Gilbert Gardens that explores themes of beauty and belonging through movement and storytelling. As part of this work, dancers help bring the Jabberwocky to life within a larger youth-centered, site-specific theatre experience.

This project is developed in conjunction with DANC 4490: Dance in the Environment under Professor Andrea Knowlton.

Join us for a captivating celebration of our students in the Student Dance Concert Series! Each evening features a different program of original works by KSU senior dance majors, showcasing distinct voices, bold ideas, and innovative moment:

April 22nd-24th - 7:30 PM⭐️

The series culminates in a juried encore performance on Saturday night, featuring select works chosen from the concert series:

April 25th - 8 PM⭐️

Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to take some our dancers to the ACDA Southeast Conference! It was an incredible experience filled with inspiring performances, meaningful connections, and the opportunity for our students to represent KSU Dance among talented artists from across the Southeastern region. Shoutout to for hosting this year's conference!
