Theta Chi Fraternity at Kennesaw State University

Theta Chi Fraternity at Kennesaw State University Founded in 1856 Theta Chi is one of the oldest men’s college fraternities in North America. Exemplifying Truth, Temperance, and Tolerance

In the spring of 1980, a group of men at Kennesaw College (now Kennesaw State University) formed an organization with the long term goal of becoming the first national fraternity on campus. The organization looked at several national fraternities and decided to colonize with Sigma Phi Epsilon. In the Fall of 1983, after three years of affiliation with Sigma Phi Epsilon, the colony severed its ties

with that national fraternity and formed the local fraternity Phi Gamma Alpha, named after their love of golf. As a result of their determination, Phi Gamma Alpha once again set out to become affiliated with a national fraternity. In the Fall of1985, they were prepared to be colonized with Theta Chi Fraternity. On November 23, 1985 the local fraternity of Phi Gamma Alpha was official recognized as a colony of Theta Chi. The colony underwent a pledge program administrated by the Alpha Nu chapter at Georgia Tech. After several months of testing on all aspects of Theta Chi’s history, objectives, and organization the members were ready to be initiated. On May 11, 1986 twenty-two pledges were initiated as brothers-at-large of Theta Chi Fraternity. On September 20, 1986 the colony initiated its first pledge brothers under the Theta Chi system. This initiation coincided with the first fall retreat which took place on campus from the nineteenth through the twenty-first. On November 21, 1987 the colony was formally established and installed as the Theta Epsilon Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. Due in part to our success, many other Greek organizations have since formed on campus.

We wanted to take the time to recognize Drazen Pandza for being the winner of our 2nd annual ACE Scholarship Banquet. It was an opportunity for parents, brothers, and faculty to recognize these gentleman's achievements of excellence. Making the decision was tough considering the extraordinary resumes each individual in our top 5 had, however we felt that Drazen embodies everything it means to be a well rounded student and a leader in the community.

Drazen is a sophomore marketing major at KSU and has a 3.66 GPA.
He has been on the deans list for the past three semesters and has served for the United States Army as a platoon guide, in charge of 58 men during his 16 week training session this past summer. These qualities are what we strive to highlight with the ACE Scholarship. We want to thank all of the faculty and staff that were able to come and speak to these young men, and we look forward to next year's banquet!
