We hope you have had a reflective and relaxing Memorial Day holiday. The words of the Civil War poet-soldier Theodore O'Hara have appeared in the final resting places for many veterans.s. "The muffed drum's sad roll has beat the soldier's last tattoo; No more on life's parade shall meet That brave and fallen few. On Fame's eternal camping ground Their silent tents are spread. And Glory guards with solemn round the Bivouac of the Dead.

A particular shout out to Deborah Lindsay, who has been so supportive over the years and asked a question that I had to look up. The reunion pin you saw with the initials was indeed UCV and not UCI, so United Confederate Veterans. The website I mentioned has all of the known (at least so far) reunions listed, North, South and both.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the 21st Annual Symposium this weekend. I was particularly excited to see so many of my family members, and you, my extended family. The number of attendees was phenomenal. Thanks also to Steve Woodworth for traveling from TCU in Texas and presenting on General Grant's popular view/reputation versus the reality he exhibited, particularly in Virginia in 1864. Thanks to Elizabeth (my better half) and Board members Stevan Crew and Terry Kingery for helping to set-up as well as Carl DiMare for his support. Finally, thanks to the Georgia Civil War Commission, the Civil War Round Table of Cobb County, members from the Civil War Round Table of Atlanta who came and especially David Brannan for his personal support (which really helped). Our final campaign event for 2024 will be the 9th Annual Collector's Showcase on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Room 400 of the KSU Center. Hope you can make that one!! We look forward to seeing you!!
