Outagamie County Shelter Care is an 18 bed facility located in downtown Appleton for temporary placement of youth ages 10-17 who are involved with Youth Justice or Child Protection. Placement here is utilized when youth require a safe environment during a time of transition, crisis or need.
Youth Care Specialists support youth by prompting pro-social activities, independent living skills, coping skills, school attendance, healthy relationships and more.
Shelter Care utilizes a team approach, 2-4 staff each shift, to support one another and the youth.
In this role you can gain experience in child welfare and mental health fields while growing as a professional in a team setting.

Positions include 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift working four 10-hour shifts a week, including every other weekend. This rotation makes going to school & working possible.

We recently have added CRMJ 355 FORENSIC EVIDENCE to the Fall 2023 course schedule. It is available in SOLAR.

This course will be taught by our newly hired Assistant Professor Keith Biddle.
The course will be offered on TR 9:30am-10:52am.
Prereq: CRMJ 101 if you do not meet the prereq, you can email Dept Chair Marty Gottschalk and request a permission number.

Course Description
This course covers a variety of issues in forensic evidence including the types of scientific evidence frequently encountered in the courts. Particular emphasis on scientific evidence in criminal court proceedings and a few selected cases involving introduction of scientific evidence in the courts, will be reviewed.
