Our humanoid robots have officially landed at the DI Hub, and we're getting everything ready for this weekend's Humanoid Robot Fashion Challenge!

Over the next three days, student teams will bring together fashion, technology, design, and a whole lot of creativity to answer one big question: What will robots wear?

We've got the robots, the tools, the materials, and some exciting prizes waiting. Now all we need are our designers!

Mitch DaDante is Director of Risk Management for Cleveland Construction, where he has led Safety, HR, and Training for over 15 years, reshaping the safety culture of a multi-state, 1,000-person workforce. He mentors 75+ superintendents across 50+ job sites nationwide, drives OSHA and company-standard compliance for Cleveland Construction team members and trade partner workers, and represents the company in OSHA meetings, jobsite visits, and negotiations.

Mitch previously served 12 years as President and CEO of a not-for-profit construction association representing 400 contractor organizations, earning repeated board recognition for team building and staff development, and forging a strategic OSHA partnership on members' behalf.

He has also held numerous leadership roles, including Director of Industrial Relations, President, and Managing Partner, at proprietary construction and trade schools, overseeing accreditation, funding, budgeting, admissions, and marketing. As Managing Partner of a workforce Development consulting firm, he built strategic alliances, ran training academies, and expanded into new markets, consistently building community and driving growth among staff, members, and clients.

Thank you to Lawrence Blough for joining Kent State’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design for the Fall ’26 lecture, “Domestic Mutations: New Households, New Paradigms.”

Blough, Professor at Pratt Institute School of Architecture and Principal of GRAFTWORKS Design Research, explored evolving ideas about housing, collective living and the future of domestic environments. Following the lecture, attendees participated in a roundtable discussion with Blough, Brendan Ho and Jean Jaminet before gathering for the exhibition opening.

How can we use AI to do more?

At Kent State CAED, we’re exploring how artificial intelligence can serve as a tool to enhance human creativity, improve productivity and expand what’s possible in design. From delivering greater value to clients to advancing predictive modeling and understanding how buildings perform, AI offers opportunities to work smarter, faster and more effectively.

The goal isn’t to replace human expertise, but to empower people to achieve more with it.

The future of design isn’t just about what AI can do. It’s about what we can do with AI.

Congratulations to Saba Tajali, MLA ’23, a Kent State University College of Architecture and Environmental Design landscape architecture alumna, for being named one of the Top 10 winners in the 2026 Land F/X ASLA Coloring Contest!

The contest took place during the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture in Los Angeles, where over 6,000 landscape architecture professionals and attendees gathered to share ideas, explore innovations and celebrate the profession.

Mark Linder is a professor in the School of Architecture at Syracuse University. His research explores design theory and history considered in a transdisciplinary framework with a focus on modern architecture since 1950. He is the author of That’s Brutal, What’s Modern? The Smithsons, Banham, and the Mies-Image (Park Books, 2025), Nothing Less Than Literal: Architecture after Minimalism (MIT Press, 2004) and numerous papers and essays in journals. From 2011 to 2014 he was Chancellor’s Fellow in the Humanities at Syracuse University. He has lectured throughout the United States and Europe and has taught as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, Harvard, University of Illinois-Chicago, Rice University, IIT, RISD, and UCLA.
